Short Form Specification for Screen Doors
Insect screens according to this specification shall be "Emerald" insect screens. They shall be manufactured according to the Emerald Flyscreens manufacturing specifications. The made to measure products shall allow for flexible installation.
"Emerald" Heavy Duty Screen Doors shall consist of extruded aluminium frame sections (68mm x 20mm) in a closed tubular form. The sections shall be formed with a groove on one side to hold the mesh by means of a plastic spline. The spline shall have a knurled circumference (lengthwise) and the diameter shall be such as to fit neatly into the frame groove holding the mesh taut.
The frame shall have mitred corners and the frame sections shall be connected by machined aluminium angle shaped corner inserts which fit tightly and are double riveted into the sections.
Cross profiles (125mm x 7mm) shall be placed in the centre of the door as a push bar and at the bottom as a kick plate.
Finish shall be in white powder coat paint and the mesh shall be 18 x 16 gauge PVC coated woven fibre glass. Aluminium lattice grids shall be fitted in parallel to the mesh panels to protect the mesh from damage.
Installation components shall consist of removable pin hinges, optional spring closing device with the facility to be locked in open position, handles and magnetic catch. A bristle strip shall be fitted to the lower edge of the screen door if required. It may be necessary to fit a build-off sub frame to the existing door frame to prevent the screen door mesh coming into contact with any projecting hardware on the existing door.
